Glenn Rexach

Photo of a girl standing in the aisle watching a perfomanceGlenn Rexach has been a heavily called guitarist, electric bass player, and composer on the Austin music scene since 1985. Rexach has toured the U.S. with Will Taylor and the Vanguards, in addition to playing abroad with the Dave Sebree Group. He has recorded with Centzontle, Sue Young, Terry Bohness, Heather Bennett, Mambo Redd, and the Austin Jazz Workshop, and has played with the Creative Opportunity Orchestra, Tomas Ramirez, Tony Campise, Clay Moore, Dr. James Polk, Beto y los Fairlanes and many others.

Recent collaborations have included regular performances with Tropicante, Jazz P.R., Morena flor, the Glenn Rexach Group, the Gypsies, and La Tribu, as well as full time teaching at the Austin School of Music. Rexach is a composer of complex, beautiful, and haunting instrumental music that is performed by several local configurations of jazz and contemporary musicians, including the Glenn Rexach Group, Glenn Rexach Trio, the Jazz Menagerie and Strings Attached.

For several years now, he has been the driving force on bass with La Tribu and on guitar with Strings Attached, including performances on the Strings Attached cd release of 2001. Rexach wows hundreds of Austin-area students annually with his technical and improvisational skills as a participant in Will Taylor's American Roots school programs.
